25 Years of Amazon in the UK
Who would have thought that the top twenty-five products sold by Amazon in the UK over the past 25 years included Crocs, fidget spinners, toilet rolls and the DVD of Mamma Mia!
Amazon recently celebrated 25 years since they began operations in the UK in the House of Commons, the Terrace Pavilion. The event was hosted by Peter Gibson MP, and the Minister for Enterprise, Markets and Small Business, who gave a keynote speech along with John Boumphrey, Amazon UK Country Manager, and Kevin Hollinrake MP, Minister for Small Business and Labour Markets.
I was commissioned to photograph the evening in collaboration with the film production company, Hey Brutus.
The event was attended by members of parliament and the House of Lords, plus guests including 20 small businesses from across the UK who sell on Amazon.
Amazon showcased the top twenty-five products sold in the past twenty-five years in the UK at the event. There are now more than 100,000 UK SME’s selling on Amazon. The event also launched the first ever innovation report, setting out Amazon’s recommendations towards increasing innovation activity across the UK.
