Nando’s Clink Street London
Of the 84 branches of Nando’s in London, Clink Street has been independently reviewed as one of the best. “How so?” I hear you shout. “Isn’t Nando’s a chain of restaurants?” Well, every Nando’s serves up the same peri-peri menu of food but every restaurant design is unique.
Nando’s Clink Street has something of an awe-inspiring architecture. Set within the arches of the London train system the space seems to celebrate food with large banqueting tables and cavernous interconnecting tunnels. Last year the restaurant was refurbished by Harrison Design, who revitalise the interior pushing forward the Nando’s restaurant design story.
I was commissioned to photograph and capture the new re-design of the restaurant. My approach was to showcase how Harrison had enhanced the wow factor of the space with creative design features that we now associate with Nando’s South African soul. From the large Ashanti feature pendants, plus single Mash T pendant lights, to the Spier Arts Trust artwork on the wall and the vibrant fabrics this restaurant, this is a portal to Africa. Like the food there are restaurants that are peri-peri hot and then some that are extra extra hot!
