Songs of Sanctuary

Humanitarian

Compass Collective and Music Action International came together on Sunday 22 September for the “Songs of Sanctuary”, an unforgettable night of original songs and beats at The Jago in London.

I was proud to support the event with my photography.

Over the past 6 months, the talented cohort have participated in monthly sessions at the Promised Land Studios, creating music, learning skills and producing banger after banger. This event is the showcase of their hard work and incredible musical creations!

Each of the artists brought their unique talent, creativity, and passion to the stage, ending with a full dancefloor thanks to the amazing “Our Heart Beats DJ’s”, a group of young refugees and asylum seekers who are taking the music scene by storm.

Compass Collective assists unaccompanied minor refugees and young people seeking asylum to build resilience and integrate into the UK through theatre, music and film projects and arts-led professional development programmes.

The aim of their work is to strengthen communities, build resilience and help people seeking sanctuary integrate into the UK.

Music Action International creates life-changing music programmes with survivors of war, torture and persecution. They work with people in exile, in displaced communities, refugee camps and post conflict settings to improve mental health and well-being, to bring communities together and to speak out against human rights abuses.
