Family

Architecture, Commercial

Family and friends are what it is really all about and Nando’s celebrates this every year with a ‘Family Day’! Family Day is not only a great way to celebrate one of Nando’s core values of ‘Family’, but it is also a reminder that memorable experiences are to be shared. Add some Peri-Peri love and that is a powerful recipe!

Nando’s family includes everyone from the Nandocas who work at its restaurants, to all those who enjoy the food and break bread together in their restaurants, the businesses that work alongside them, and the charitable organisations that they support.

Nando’s in Craigleith Scotland was designed by Harrison, the longest collaborating designers in the Nando’s design family. Craigleith features a cluster of Ashanti oversized, two-tone lampshades set in a recessed ceiling channel, Mash T Studio Hula Pendants, and a variety of Ashanti Puka pendants set within a square recessed coffered ceiling area with a cork finish. Along the front of the restaurant are various Citrus Fountain pendants by Modern Gesture. The wall surfaces are a mixture of vertical raked plaster, 3d yellow glazed tiles, fluted ceramic tiles, and black brick slips. The seating is arranged with booths, banqueting tables and single tables for flexibility to cater for any sized family! These are furnished with Woodbender’s Alter chairs and Guideline Design’s Karl chairs. There is a Nando’s palette of fabrics combining geometric fabrics with vibrant leathers.

Craigleith also has some innovative sustainability credentials with a specialist air sourced heat pump. The hot water and space heating is provided using heat recovered from cooking processes with the bonus that it is also able to supply free cooling to the restaurant during the summer. Craigleith will work as a heating / cooling case study, providing exact data about how much heating, cooling, and ventilation is required for a restaurant the size of Craigleith. Nando’s can continue to move away from direct electric and gas heating and take further advantage of heat recovery and heat pump technology helping mother nature. It’s all about family!
