Feldy Community Centre

Architecture

The new Feldy Community Centre, based in Aberfeldy Square, provides a hub for a host of extra facilities and support for Tower Hamlets residents. This purpose-built space is part of the regeneration of Aberfeldy Village in partnership with EcoWorld London.

I was commissioned to photograph the community centre and nursery, to show the new inclusive facilities where the entire community can access health, arts and wellness activities.

The project was delivered by QOB in partnership with Rawls & Co Buro FourQuantemHoare Lea and KP Acoustics Group.

The nursery fit-out was completed using durable, sustainable, and tactile materials. The veneered joinery has been designed as a feature of inspiring shapes for the children, as well as including useful spaces for storage. The interior palette is colourful but soft to add a sense of play to the space. At the back of the nursery is a secure outside area for the children to enjoy.

In its first year, the new community space expects to see 20,000 visitors through its doors. With a vibrant schedule of wellness, health, and art activities and opportunities for personal growth and development, this versatile space will become the centrepiece of the new ‘village’, promoting the well-being and economic development of the area and its community.
