FRIARS YARD – 160 Blackfriars Road

Architecture

Friars Yard at 160 Blackfriars Road is a premier office building in the heart of South Bank offering premium and contemporary office space in a world-class business destination. Following a recent upgrade, the building has been completely transformed to provide sustainable, people-focused workspaces in one of the most connected locations in London.

Maya Capital LLP worked with Leach Rhodes Walker Architects alongside Studio Ghazal to reimagine the building with organically designed premium workspaces and a new ninth-floor communal roof terrace as part of the significant transformation. The work was project managed by FT Squared, with Norman Disney Young as the M&E designers and QOB Interiors completing the fitout.

I was commissioned to photograph the project in various stages. The brief required me to capture the exterior of the building in its central setting, the roof terrace with stunning 360-degree city views, the communal spaces including the new reception area and the end-of-journey basement-level facilities, and the CAT A floor plates.

The new spaces are designed to foster a sense of community, enhance well-being, and encourage sustainable practices. With LED lighting, increased levels of natural light, and openable windows throughout the property, Friars Yard reinforces the theme of comfort throughout this future-thinking office.

Designed with sustainability in mind, Friars Yard has an active Net Zero Carbon pathway to achieve an economical carbon footprint, whilst the building is also looking to achieve BREEAM Excellent and EPC A ratings.
