Nando’s biggest opening of 2023
Nando’s Waterloo, “The Sidings” was one of the biggest openings of last year which you can see in every detail of the restaurant. It was a peri-peri feast for the eyes where everywhere became a photograph!
As this was an extra fiery flagship Nando’s I visited the restaurant during the build and spoke with the design team at Fusion dna in advance of the photography. I recognised that the front façade would look spectacular in the evening with all the lights glowing from the inside, but when I arrived it was raining. Luckily it was not for long and when it did finally stop, I was gifted the reflection of the Nando’s sign in a puddle.
I returned the following day to photograph the restaurant floor. I wanted to capture the spacious interior with beautiful wide shots but also to hone in on the features that make this restaurant extra special. There’s feature concrete counters and a wall covered in textured art, as well as printed timber panelling and light pendants made with Portuguese cork. The restaurant has a Peri-Peri sauce pump, Rubro machine and serves the new frozen cocktails.
The Sidings is a 135,000 sq ft landmark destination in Waterloo station created by developer and placemaking expert LCR. Nando’s joins a series of unique and exciting brands, with the destination aiming to complement the thriving South Bank and echo its creative, independent spirit.
