Nando’s Cheltenham

On this site, not so long ago, stood the Whitbread brewery; it ceased business in 1998 after a long history of malting and brewing. Cheltenham’s association with malting and brewing goes back to medieval times when it was a cottage industry.

The current offering is a state-of-the-art entertainment complex with a variety of fantastic restaurants and bars, including the newly refurbished Nando’s.

Designed by Fusion DNA, Nando’s is located on the corner of the pedestrian walkway with outside seating, planters and large olive trees. I was commissioned to photograph and capture the Peri-Peri flavours and colour palette of the interior which infuses the décor. From the original African art to the vibrancy in the tiles and furniture, our senses recognise that we are in a Nando’s casa. There is a variety of seating options in the layout, and a feature slatted wooden ceiling with a mixture of lighting types.

In the tradition of the Brewery Quarter, we have the usual choice of Nando’s selection of beers. Sagres is a pale Portuguese lager that’s moderately rich with a dry, pleasantly bitter taste.  is made in a wine style using Champagne yeasts & stainless-steel vats to boost the extraction of apple characteristics and to seal in those juicy extra flavours. The Freedom Pils is brewed with the perfect mix of European and American hops delivering a distinctive citrus aroma with a bittersweet bite. The Five Points XPA is a gluten free light and tropical extra pale ale with assertive hop bitterness and aromas of mango and passionfruit. Black’s Kinsale Pale Ale has been brewed using both Cascade and Citra hops and is incredibly clean and crisp on the palate with grapefruit flavours as well as tropical fruits and malty sweetness.
