“Portraits of Resilience” Exhibition install

Exhibition

Today, Monday 24 March 2025, I arrived at the Palais des Nations in Geneva to overlook the “Portraits of Resilience” exhibition build. It was a day of getting the exhibition display boards into position, unpacking the crate of framed photo works (sent here by Metro Imaging), and positioning the work. Once I approved the order of the pictures, which changed from my original planned order, the work was hung, and the introduction / information was installed.

The space was also prepared for tomorrow’s official opening with a podium for speeches, flags and an area for debate and discussion accompanied with some food and a glass of fizz.

“Portraits of Resilience” features photographs of survivors of torture from around the world who fled their home countries seeking safety, recovery, and political asylum. The work was created in collaboration with TASSC International.

The United Nations Geneva Cultural Activities Programme provides Permanent Missions to the United Nations Office at Geneva and International Organisations a cultural diplomacy space to share art and culture at the Palais des Nations. Empowering an exchange and dialogue among cultures and peoples of different traditions and backgrounds, the Programme aims to foster tolerance and respect. Events are open to the diplomatic community, staff of the UN system, anyone accredited to enter the Palais des Nations, and the general public upon registration.

“Portraits of Resilience” will be exhibited at the United Nation’s Palais des Nations in Geneva between Monday 25th of March and Friday 4th of April during the 58th session of the Human Rights Council.
