9 Cavendish Square honouring its heritage while shaping the future of the workplace.

Architecture, Uncategorised

9 Cavendish Square stands as a benchmark building for sustainable workplace design that honours its heritage while shaping the future of the modern office.

I was commissioned to photograph the newly refurbished exterior and complete retrofit interior. I worked with the overall design and construction team to understand how the building was reimagined with sustainability and well-being at its core.

9 Cavendish Square offers just under 30,000 sq ft of contemporary workspace spread over six floors, boasting ceiling heights up to 4.1m. The building has been enhanced to promote connectivity and collaboration, with improved communal spaces, enhanced end-of-trip facilities, and an expanded reception area.

The new ground floor reception makes a striking first impression where refined details subtly reference the classical character of the existing facade.

Visitors are welcomed into a 2,118 sq. ft space which includes a bespoke reception desk with feature overhead lighting set next to a comfortable waiting area. There is an additional 6-person private meeting room, a casual breakout area and direct access to the lifts plus ground floor courtyard.

A full upgrade of the building’s mechanical and electrical systems incorporates smart technologies, a high-efficiency heating and cooling system, and an all-electric strategy significantly reducing carbon emissions and eliminating fossil fuel usage on site. The project targets BREEAM Excellent, NABERS, and WELL accreditations, reflecting a deep commitment to long-term sustainability and occupant health.

The finished office accommodation boasts a high-quality finish throughout, combining aesthetic appeal with cutting-edge functionality.

With meticulous attention to detail and a focus on sustainable design, the building offers tenants an inspiring, flexible, and future-ready environment.

Project partners included Rolfe Judd Architecture, Freshwater Group of Companies in collaboration with Jones Lang LaSalle, JLL as the project manager, QOB Interiors as the fitout firm, Core Five as the cost consultant, Watkins Payne as the services consultant, Heyne Tillett Steel as the structural consultant, Studio29 Lighting Design, Hyland Edgar Driver HED landscape architects, Jensen Hughes, Clarke Saunders Acoustics, and London Bridge Associates Ltd
